Shellcrafts

This is a bit over the top, but I’m not sorry. I needed something to do with my hands. Something beautiful to focus on and make. Something to take me out of this world and into magic and fantasy.

It started when I was at Bonita Beach, in Florida. My last evening there, I decided to collect some shells. And it became an unexpectedly delightful time. It almost seemed like the beach was conscious and helping me, showing me this shell and then that one, and they were all so beautiful.

I decided to make mermaid spoons.

And then I found an old silverware box at a thrift shop, which was exactly what I’d had in mind to do, so I was super excited and painted it up.

I still have to finish adding embellishments to the rest of the spoons. There were more shells at the thrift shop, so I was thrilled to have a lot more to work with.

I made these little bouquet pendants by request. My aunt and Grandma saw me wearing the shell pendant I had made and wanted to have one too. I didn’t have the materials to replicate mine, but the idea for tiny shell bouquets came to me and I thought they were super cute.

Mine. One of a kind.

I also made an anklet by request for my cousin.

I had given her a wreath and chimes for a wedding and shower gift. I also made another wreath exactly like it for another cousin getting married next month.

Her jaw dropped when she opened this.

I also made these chimes and collected some driftwood at Lake Michigan for more. I have one other set already designed.

I had also seen this print at Hobby Lobby a while ago, I didn’t get it because it seemed unnecessary, but then again it’s the end of the world, so why not? I looked for it again the next time I was there, and I couldn’t find it. But I still never forgot it, looked again a third time and saw one corner peeking out from the back of a stack. Score. It also turned out to be 50% off. Meant to be.

This one I paid full price for, but I also learned my lesson and got it immediately. And yes, it’s completely necessary. It’s where I see myself in 5 years. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜
